ALAMO SQUARE HOME

CATEGORY: Single Family Housing
PROJECT: MEP, Fire Protection, Energy Modeling Services
SQUARE FOOTAGE: 12,000 SFT
LOCATION: Alamo Square, San Francisco

We provided Mechanical and Sustainable Design for the contemporary remodel of this existing Victorian residence.

E350 evaluated a number of heating and cooling system options early in the design. Energy and thermal comfort models were conducted for the various options under consideration by the owner. (Early in the design process E350 used energy and thermal comfort models to evaluated a number of heating and cooling systems the owner was considering.) A VRF system was selected as offering the best value. (best fit the owner’s goals for the remodel. OR: A VRF system was chosen, and) E350 worked closely with the architect in locating the units, access panels, duct routes, and diffusers in this seamlessly detailed home. (locating? or positioning/installing?)

The project has been the winner of various awards including a 2017 American Architecture Award as well as an AIA SF Design award for Special Commendation for Historic Preservation.

HIGH HORSE RANCH

CATEGORY: Single Family Housing
PROJECT: MEP, Fire Protection, Energy Modeling Services
SQUARE FOOTAGE: 12,000 SFT
LOCATION: Mendocino County, California

We provided the MEP engineering and Sustainable Consulting Services for this modular construction home.

The design consists of radiant floor heating and passive cooling via a thermally massive slab and nighttime cross ventilation. Spot cooling is provided in the office via an efficient variable refrigerant split system.

The offsite fabricating minimized site disturbance and maximized construction quality control. The project targeted a high level of environmental performance, and energy modeling software was used to optimize passive cooling and heating strategies for the residence.
